  4. QCDRUN (TM) and all related files and texts 
  5.                                         Copyright 1993 QUART, Inc.
  6.  
  7. QCDRUN (TM) is a CD-ROM Autoloader Library System that builds a 
  8. master library of available CD-ROMs and offers single command 
  9. convenience for running any CD-ROM in the library. The core system 
  10. consists of the Loader, QCD.EXE; and QLIB.EXE, which installs and 
  11. edits entries in the master library.  QCDRUN is written in the 
  12. WinBatch/Windows Interface Language and is distributed in compiled 
  13. and run-time encoded form for users who do not have access to WIL 
  14. or WinBatch.

  16. QCDRUN requirements:
  17.  
  18. Hardware: PC(compatible) 286-386-486 system capable of running
  19. Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher in standard or enhanced mode. 
  20. Requires one hard drive with 1.2 MB free for installation, one 
  21. floppy drive, CD-ROM drive, and mouse or other pointing device.         
  22.  
  23. Software: MS-DOS 4.0 or higher and Windows 3.1 or higher. MSCDEX.EXE
  24. v2.2 or higher CD-ROM extensions for MS-DOS. 
  25.         
  26. Optional features including:
  27.  
  28.         - on-line reading and printing of documentation files and 
  29. registration forms; 
  30.         - creation of .PIF files to install DOS CD-ROM applications 
  31. into Windows; and 
  32.         - shelling out to search archival files on CD-ROM; 
  33.  
  34.         require access to the WINDOWS utilities and accessories 
  35. WINFILE (Windows File Manager); NOTEPAD; WRITE; and PIFEDIT, which 
  36. are assumed to be located in the main Windows directory.
  37.         
  38. To install QCDRUN:
  39.         
  40. In Windows - in Program Manager or File Manager:
  41.      at the File Run prompt: enter "D":QINSTALL, 
  42.      where "D" is the drive containing the installation disc
  43. Then simply follow the on-screen instructions.    
  44.  
  45. QCDRUN is distributed in two 360K 5.25 inch floppy disks. In other
  46. formats all files fit on single floppy disk (labelled "Disk 1").
  47.

  81. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before
  82. buying it. Beyond a nominal fee for the reproduction and media cost, 
  83. no fee may be charged for distribution of this software. If you try 
  84. a Shareware program and continue using it, you are expected to register. 
  85. Copyright laws apply to Shareware just as to commercial software.
  86.                               
  87. In the shareware distribution, QCDRUN is complete and functional 
  88. in all respects. Unregistered users are limited to 50 sessions of 
  89. QCD.EXE. The session count increases only when you run QCD.EXE to 
  90. load CD-ROMs. A single session may allow loading and running several 
  91. CD-ROMs sequentially and ends when you exit QCD.EXE.

  93. Registered users receive:
  94.  
  95.         - a password that removes this usage limit and the message 
  96.           screens relating to registration; 
  97.  
  98.         - a copy of the newest version of QCDRUN if substantial 
  99.           revisions have been made between their shareware version 
  100.           and the time of registration; and
  101.           
  102.         - free technical support by telephone, fax, E-mail, or mail 
  103.           for a guaranteed minimum of 3 months after registration. 
  104.           
  105. QUART, Inc. will refund registration fees to registered users of 
  106. current versions of QCDRUN who encounter major problems that cannot 
  107. be resolved through technical support. QUART, Inc., at its sole
  108. discretion, reserves the right to discontinue technical support 
  109. of outdated or obsolete versions of QCDRUN at any time.                   
  110.  
  111. Registered users will be kept advised of bugs and incompatibilities 
  112. and their fixes, and will be given preferential opportunities to 
  113. upgrade to new versions of QCDRUN as these become available.
  114.         
  115. By using QCDRUN all users acknowledge and consent to the following 
  116. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY:
  117.          
  118. QCDRUN (TM), including all related programs, texts, and files, is 
  119. supplied "as is". QUART, Inc. disclaims all warranties, expressed 
  120. or implied, including, without limitation, the warranties of 
  121. merchantability, compatibility now or in the future with any 
  122. configuration of computing equipment or software, or of fitness 
  123. for any purpose. QUART, Inc. assumes no liability for damages, 
  124. direct or consequential, which may result from the normal use or 
  125. abuse of QCDRUN and related programs. QUART, Inc. specifically and 
  126. categorially disclaims responsibility for damages, direct or 
  127. consequential, resulting from installation or use of QCDRUN or 
  128. related programs or files which have been distributed after any 
  129. modification - either deliberate or unwitting - by any party other 
  130. than QUART, Inc., or distributed in any fashion that would otherwise 
  131. violate the terms of this license. In all cases, without exception, 
  132. the maximum liability of QUART, Inc. to any user for any problem or 
  133. dispute arising out of the use of QCDRUN or any related files and 
  134. texts shall be limited to the amount of the registration fee. Any 
  135. dispute arising out of the use of QCDRUN or any related files and 
  136. texts within the terms of this license shall fall within the 
  137. jurisdiction of the courts of Broward County, Florida.

  139. QCDRUN is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to 
  140. the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your friends, 
  141. but you may not alter it in any manner or incorporate it as part of 
  142. another system. Users may distribute copies of QCDRUN free of charge 
  143. PROVIDED that the distribution includes ALL the files listed above 
  144. or their then current versions or equivalents as specified and 
  145. initially distributed by QUART, Inc., without modification, deletion, 
  146. or addition. This software remains the property of QUART, Inc. and 
  147. may not be modified in any way. If you violate these conditions, 
  148. you have violated your license and our copyright, and QUART, Inc. 
  149. will require you to desist.

  151. If you find QCDRUN useful and want to continue to use QCDRUN after 
  152. 50 sessions, you must pay a registration fee to QUART, Inc. You must 
  153. also submit a signed registration form confirming your acceptance of
  154. these terms and conditions. QUART, Inc. will not accept unsigned
  155. registration forms. The amount of the registration fee will be set
  156. from time to time by QUART, Inc. as indicated on the registration 
  157. form. The registration fee will license one copy to you for unlimited 
  158. numbers of uses on any one computer at any one time. You must treat 
  159. this software just like a book. This software may be used by any 
  160. number of people and may be freely moved from one computer location 
  161. to another, so long as there is no possibility of the same software 
  162. from the same original distribution copy being used at more than one 
  163. location at the same time. This is comparable to a single copy of a 
  164. book, which cannot be read by two different persons in two different 
  165. locations at the same time.

  167. Commercial users of QCDRUN must register and pay for their copies of
  168. QCDRUN within 30 days of first use or their license will be withdrawn.
  169. Site-License arrangements may be made by contacting QUART, Inc.

  171. Anyone wishing to distribute QCDRUN for any kind of remuneration 
  172. must first contact QUART, Inc. at the address below for authorization. 
  173. This authorization will be automatically granted to distributors
  174. recognized by the Association of Shareware Professionals (ASP) as
  175. adhering to its guidelines for shareware distributors, and such 
  176. distributors may begin offering QCDRUN immediately. However, QUART, 
  177. Inc. must still be advised so that the distributor can be kept 
  178. up-to-date with the latest version of QCDRUN.
  179.  
  180. Please pass a copy of QCDRUN along to your friends for evaluation. 
  181. Please encourage them to register their copy if they find that they 
  182. can use it.

  195. the next version of QCDRUN. Legitimate suggestions for enhancements, 
  196. modifications, or optimizations from registered users are welcome. 
  197. Registered users suggesting changes or enhancements that are 
  198. incorporated into a subsequent version of QCDRUN will receive a 
  199. complimentary copy of that revised version.
